Kyla’s memory has been erased,
her personality wiped blank,
her memories lost for ever.

She’s been Slated.

The government claims she was a terrorist and that they are giving her a second chance – as long as she plays by their rules. But echoes of the past whisper in Kyla’s mind. Someone is lying to her, and nothing is as it seems. Who can she trust in her search for the truth?

Can I just say..well, its my blog I can say what I want 😛 but ANYWAY.  What a STELLAR premise for a book.  Unique as hell, and a Betty rec, it had a LOT to live up to.

But, anyway, we’ve got Kyla and she has been “slated”.  Poor thing can’t remember who she is, who her family and friends are, or anything imporant.  Sometimes she seems to think she’s figured something out but then there’s always someone [or the Doctor] there to put her right back in check.

And then she get’s taken in by her “new family”, and that brings a whole new slew of faces to the scene who inform Kyla of some VERY interesting information that she did not previously have.  Oh, and there may be a guy.  😉

What Does Kyla Find Out!?

Score: 17 Betty, Failed Recs 0

I’m not going to say much here, because my reaction is simple.  I really, really liked this book.  It was our Book Club book for this month and we have our Book Chat today for it, which I am super excited for!  I loved Kyla and felt so awful for her throughout the story.  She was trying to hard to figure things out and I just felt like there were so many people rooting against her!

The one relationship that Kyla had that I was SO overwhelmed by was with her mother.  The things that her and her mother go through are nuts.  I won’t say any more!  You guys really need to read this book.  The idea behind it does not fall flat at all, it really is presented well.  And oh…

Thank god for Gaby who found me an EARLY copy of the sequel, Fractured and sent it to me!! She’s a peach! And I’m SUPER excited to get to it because WOW.  I need to know what on EARTH is going on!

Now guys, just be prepared, there’s A LOT going on in this book.  But, it all makes sense in the end, and you get [some] of the answers you are looking for.

Props to Teri Terry on doing wonders with an amazing plotline!

This book was read for the #dinertalk Book Club
