(Heist Society #1)
By: Ally Carter
When Katarina Bishop was three, her parents took her on a trip to the Louvre…to case it. For her seventh birthday, Katarina and her Uncle Eddie traveled to Austria…to steal the crown jewels. When Kat turned fifteen, she planned a con of her own—scamming her way into the best boarding school in the country, determined to leave the family business behind. Unfortunately, leaving “the life” for a normal life proves harder than she’d expected.
Soon, Kat’s friend and former co-conspirator, Hale, appears out of nowhere to bring Kat back into the world she tried so hard to escape. But he has a good reason: a powerful mobster has been robbed of his priceless art collection and wants to retrieve it. Only a master thief could have pulled this job, and Kat’s father isn’t just on the suspect list, he is the list. Caught between Interpol and a far more deadly enemy, Kat’s dad needs her help.
For Kat, there is only one solution: track down the paintings and steal them back. So what if it’s a spectacularly impossible job? She’s got two weeks, a teenage crew, and hopefully just enough talent to pull off the biggest heist in her family’s history–and, with any luck, steal her life back along the way.

For the Love of Heists..
Oh gee. This was good. I have read review after review where there are Oceans Eleven comparisons. If you haven’t seen the Oceans movies, don’t even.. talk to me. They’re the best. Plus, a rockstar cast. The Heist Society series really IS like the Young Adult Oceans Eleven. I love it.
We’ve got “the crew” whom Katarina Bishop has assembled, part by herself, and part by friend/co-crew member Hale. ::swoon alert- Hale is AMAZING:: The crew has their flaws, of course, and they are funny at times as well. Kat has been in the “business” of thievery since she was a child. Her father, and her uncle are world-renowned in the biz, and she is the next in line. Of course, right along with her gorgeous cousin, Gabrielle. Gabrielle can make anyone melt at her knees, and to say the least, that’s a good power to have when you need to distract people / rob them blind, on the double.
In the first novel of the series, we are sent ALL around the world in search of certain paintings, and it is quite a fun adventure. With the help of her friends, Kat is sent to pull off the impossible, and at one of the most high-security museums in the entire world. See how they try to pull it off, and what occurs on the way!
Did They Get the Job Done?
Oh, HELL YES. I just started the series, and read the first [two] in a three day time span, both in one sitting each. The second in the series, Uncommon Criminals, does not disappoint, and I bought the third that JUST came out, titled Perfect Scoundrels as well.
Kat and Hale made my cutest couple list this week, and I simply can’t wait for more from Ally Carter! The best part about these books is that each is a standalone, but we get the same characters in each book, which is my FAVE. I don’t have to be left with cliffhangers, but I can dive into more of these awesome characters. DOUBLE WIN. This reminds me much of James Patterson’s Women’s Murder Club series in that respect, different adventures, same crew!
If you like heist movies, which I mean.. who DOESN’T? Then this series is DEFINITELY a must. Its a quick read, but memorable for sure. You’ll be sure to try to pickpocket someone when you’re done. And then.. you’ll be reached with the astounding fact that you are NOT Katarina Bishop. Right. Not her. Keep that in mind before you go off stealing stuff.
