Girl Before A Mirror

By: Liza Palmer

Received from the publisher, thank you William Morrow!

An account executive in a Mad Men world, Anna Wyatt is at a crossroads. Recently divorced, she’s done a lot of emotional housecleaning, including a self-imposed dating sabbatical. But now that she’s turned forty, she’s struggling to figure out what her life needs. Brainstorming to win over an important new client, she discovers a self-help book—Be the Heroine, Find Your Hero—that offers her unexpected insights and leads her to a most unlikely place: a romance writers’ conference. If she can sign the Romance Cover Model of the Year Pageant winner for her campaign—and meet the author who has inspired her to take control of her life—she’ll win the account.

For Anna, taking control means taking chances, including getting to know Sasha, her pretty young colleague on the project, and indulging in a steamy elevator ride with Lincoln Mallory, a dashing financial consultant she meets in the hotel. When the conference ends, Anna and Lincoln must decide if their intense connection is strong enough to survive outside the romantic fantasy they’ve created. Yet Lincoln is only one of Anna’s dilemmas. Now that her campaign is off the ground, others in the office want to steal her success, and her alcoholic brother, Ferdie, is spiraling out of control.

To have the life she wants-to be happy without guilt, to be accepted for herself, to love and to be loved, to just be—she has to put herself first, accept her imperfections, embrace her passions, and finally be the heroine of her own story.

This week we’re talking: Top 2014 Releases I Didn’t Get Around To!

Let’s just start it off.

fit and flare prom dresses 20150111_140252000_iOS 20150111_135848000_iOS 20150111_135800000_iOS 20150111_135701000_iOS 20150111_135641000_iOS 20150111_135549000_iOS 20150111_135512000_iOSIMG_1857

A Mad Wicked Folly / Bought: February ’14  Why Not:  No good reason! Its HISTORICAL YA.  I should be all over this!

Some Luck / Bought: September ’14 Why Not: Its honestly within my next 3 reads, so I’ll get there soon!

Heir of Fire / Bought: Pre-Release. Why Not: Because I’m awful about CHUNKERS.

Rules for Breaking / Bought: Received as Gift Early ’14 Why Not: I fear sequels.

I Am Pilgrim / Bought: June ’14 Why Not: See two up.  ITS HUGE.

Maybe Someday / Bought: Release Day. Why Not: I HAVE NO EXCUSE IT IS COLLEEN HOOVER.

Something Real / Bought: February ’14 Why Not: Unsure! Contemp, ADORABLE cover, must read ASAP.

The Infinite Sea / Bought: DON’T OWN! Why Not: Cuz I Do Not Own It!

Ruin & Rising / Bought: June ’14 Why Not: I FEAR THE END, GUYS.

This post doesn’t even BEGIN to cover EVERYTHING I didn’t read, but bought that was a 2014 release, this is just the top of the list!  I have to be more on top of what I am buying and reading in 2015, it is a huge goal of mine.  And SO, I will try my best to be better about buying without reading things I already have!  Plus, seriously, it was a HUGE Adult Fiction year for me, and so a LOT of these are YA picks.  I think that is since I gravitated more towards the adult novels that I have on my shelves!

Audio Adventures is a new type of review! It is specifically formatted for my Audiobook Reviews & it helps explain how I feel about all the main categories.

Every year, we make resolutions, and promises to improve certain things in our lives.  Half the time, we fail, but more often than not, we succeed at least in some.  This year I’ve chosen a few things I want to do, or do better, in 2015, from ALL aspects of my life.  Some make me happy, some keep me organized, and some are for my well-being.  But all of these are important to me, and I hope you have some resolutions as well!
