Much like the hurricane coming to my home state, I feel swept away and crazed by the Mara Dyer series. I can not express in words how amazing and captivating book two was. If you haven’t; get your hands on The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin.
Seriously, I rated this a five out of five and will be re-reading it shortly to make sure there’s nothing I missed! Let’s just say it is even better than the first! Thank you Michelle Hodkin for being so amazing!
REVIEW to follow in a few hours!
This weeks thought is on sequels, and waiting for them. And the dread that comes along with it!
As book lovers, we all know how often we find ourselves thinking of our favorite reads. But how often are you wishing the sequel to your favorite series was already released? I mean really! Its ridiculous how much time I waste wishing it was October 23rd, or February 5th! (Evolution of Mara Dyer, Unravel Me).
But, I mean.. us thinking about sequels helps support our authors that we love oh so much! Pre-ordering is one of my personal favorite things to do. Does anyone else love to pre-order? It makes my day when my book is already waiting for me to open it on release day!
Or.. are you more of a standalone person? That way, you know. No waiting, no fuss. You get your ending in one book, and you can just relive your character love over and over in your head, or by re-reading the books you enjoy. Is there anyone out there who refuses to read a series? Let me know. Honestly, I think I’m lucky that I read some series after ALL the books were out, such as The Hunger Games. I couldn’t imagine that wait! It must have been awful!
And while we are on the topic! SECOND BOOK SYNDROME. We’ve all heard of it. What are the books you think suffered the most from SBS? I only can think of one, but there’s a bunch of sequels I will be reading shortly, and lets hope they all rise above the syndrome.
What I’m Excited For:
So, its been a while, but this was an awesome time to jump right back into Top Ten Tuesday. Of course hosted by The Broke and the Bookish! Be sure to join in! Its tons of fun!
This weeks topic is REWIND! Which mean I get to pick any topic I want that I haven’t done before. So I chose..
1. The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
I’m a sinner. I know. Awful, awful, awful.
2. The Jenny Pox Series J.L. Bryan
I haven’t read this yet. And thats about to change! Its my first challenge book and I’m super excited about it!
3. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Worse is, I own it. I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. But I REALLY need to read this.
4. Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
I don’t watch the show, because I’m not so sure I’d like it. But I’ve heard such wonderful things about this series.
5. The Alex Cross Series by James Patterson
Mr. Patterson, I apologize! I just thought it would be impossible to catch up. There’s like 20 books in this series! But I must read them.
6. A Verse Book (Mainly Lisa Schroeder)
Angela and Loretta are the QUEENS of these. And I must get on it, one day.. soon. That should TOTALLY go in my Fall Into Autumn Reading Challenge list!
7. The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare
I mean, who doesn’t love this series? Its hard to find anyone! One day.. I promise.
8. A Stephen King Horror Book (Misery, Cujo, The Shining, etc.)
I loved the Green Mile with all my heart. But this man is the horror KING and I do not want to be tossing my Nook/book under my bed and having nightmares at 27!
9. Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James
Okay, I can BELIEVE this one but with all the hype that occurred.. I didn’t want to jump on the bandwagon til I was sure I may like it.
That’s about it though!
Let me know your thoughts and leave your links below!
If you haven’t read them, be sure to get on it!
ONE GOOD HUSTLE: Billie Livingston
A story of a girl who grew up the daughter of two hustlers, and her struggle to make it.
AVOIDING COMMITMENT (Avoiding #1): K.A. Linde
Lying, cheating, love, lust, hotness. That will be all.
This book is amazzzzingg. And it has some absolutely DELICIOUS male specimens to boot!
Reviews of BOTH to follow!
